The Vanessa “Honey” Malone Murder: Two Males Allegedly Present During Pretty Teen Slaying In Custody

It has been nearly a month since pretty 18-year-old Vanessa Malone was gunned down in a Stone Mountain Georgia apartment by gun-toting thugs who the cops say they believe robbed the apartment in search for drugs. Very few details have leaked out about police progress or if they even have a person of interest in the teen’s slaying. As the public’s interest in the case grows, so does the volume of people who say the circumstances surrounding what happened that night just doesn’t add up. Mainly, the fact that the petite 100 pound teen was cowardly shot in the back while others survived the brazen armed robbery continues to be a very suspicious element of the case. Further investigation into the Malone murder case reveals that Travares Bendford and the mysterious alleged 4th victim (“Mercy”) are now both in police custody. Bendford was booked on CDS (Controlled Dangerous Substance) and Tampering with evidence charges. Though details are limited in what actually sparked his arrest, rumors have circulated that Benford may have been attempting to discard drugs related to the armed robbery that resulted in the Malone teen’s tragic ending. Those charges also may be the reason local police dubbed the Malone killing as drug related. Also, the mysterious person that Travares Benford and India Smith say was an alleged 4th victim of the armed robbery but fled before police arrival, is also in police custody on handgun charges unrelated to the Malone murder. This perhaps explains his early departure of a homicide crime scene before cops could interview him. Mercy apparently new he was already wanted by the law. Now that we have a little bit of background on two of the three people who were also there the night Malone was killed, we also realize that drugs and violence were a part of the culture at that dwelling. If the apartment was being utilized as a drug stash house which precipitated the armed robbery, it’s highly possible that one of the three survivors know who was responsible for the killing, and quite possible that they just maybe the culprits themselves. None of them have offered a compelling rationalization why a gang of heavily armed thugs would shoot the person who posed the least threat to them while others mysteriously survived. There have been an onslaught of low-lives appearing on the R.I.P. Honey Facebook page crying out for the release of this “Mercy” character while professing is complete innocence in what happened to the Malone youth, but none of them were there that night. Another interesting factor in this case is that cops have been on T.V. asking for the public’s help. This could only mean that the forensics obtained at the crime scene were void of any clues (i.e. no DNA, finger prints, etc.). If these thugs searched through the apartment in the fashion that both Benford and Smith allege, it was a well orchestrated and clean robbery assuming they left no trace behind. However, I am not so sure that it was such a well planned crime. The robbers knew what apartment to hit and their timing was exact, but if the crime was actually meted out that way, I can’t help wondering why no one was alerted to the door of that apartment being broken into. Not only that though, but no one heard Malone’s screams or the alleged gunshots they say occurred. Nobody saw nothing? The robbers knew too much about the apartment and they weren’t in and out like most home invasions. They had time. Enough time that they felt comfortable chasing Malone outside and bringing her back inside. If they had simply tied the Malone youth up as they allegedly did the other occupants of the apartment, they more than likely could have gotten away without any worries from the cops. There is no way Benford nor Smith would make a police report because they were dirty, and had drugs in the house. So, why kill the teen? This particular aspect of this case is what puzzles many. They didn’t have to kill the teen over a crime in which they allowed at least three other people to survive. We can not be fooled by the antics of family, friends, and other supporters of “Mercy”, Benford, and India Smith. They are all love-lives who have committed crimes and are also directly responsible for the tragic and senseless death of Vanessa Malone whether they pulled the trigger or not, because of the negative  culture associated with their apartment. Some of the language that many of these supporters are displaying depicts complete ignorance, reflect ghetto mindsets, and other negative cultures which derive from thug street life. A closer look at the Social Media pages of many of these same people highlights my perspective, showing images of party atmospheres with drugs, alcohol, and with their associates dressed in fashion which emulate violent rap culture. Now that may be a stereo typical generalization of black youth, but it’s indicative of exactly why no credibility can be given to any of these people.  If the local church Minister was crying “free Mercy” it would be more persuasive. Some of these people commenting about Mercy’s non-involvement in Malone’s murder don’t exactly appear to be stand up citizens within our society, and nor does any of the people they proudly show in images of their FB pages appear to be upright characters either. You can tell Mercy, Benford, and Smith are lying because there were drugs in the house, and nobody had a gun to protect the stash. This is completely unheard of in the drug game. So as far as I’m concerned, “Mercy” and Benford can rot in jail until they tell exactly what happened that night. i also find it very suspicious that Smith wasn’t taken into custody. Usually when cops arrive at the scene of a homicide crime where drugs are found at the location, everyone is normally taken into custody, and they can plead their case to a Magistrate. Smith could have set everything up. Let’s face it, if there was actually a robbery, than somebody told these thugs where the drugs were, and that person was from inside of that house. If Malone’s relationship with Benford and Smith was so casual that she could simply walk into the rear of their home unannounced, she more than likely was a trusted friend. Although I am confused as to how she could walk into a rear door of the apartment when they all had allegedly went to bed early that not. Do they always sleep with doors to the place unlocked or ajar? There are simply far too many holes in the story they offered the cops. Another theory is that Malone may have been accused of setting up the robbery since she had such a casual and trusted relationship with Benford and Smith. A robbery may have in fact occurred as the three survivors have alleged, but angered that someone told the robbers that the apartment was a drug stash house, “Mercy”, Benford, and Smith may have blamed the teen and killed her in retaliation. Like many within the public, I am not convinced that police were told everything that happened that night Vanessa Malone was killed, and the cops just may already have the actual culprits in custody. The fact that people are willing to speak out and protect known violent felons and not divulge any information about this case speaks volumes about the true identity of those who call for these people to be released. One poster on the R.I.P. Honey Facebook pages told me to mind my business. His perspective only heightens the obvious, that there are people within the Stone Mountain community who don’t want Malone’s killers found. The story stinks and I would advise everyone to distance themselves from these people who are quick to defend the survivors of this horrific crime. When a female is murdered in the fashion which Vanessa Malone was, it’s everyone’s business, and those responsible should be removed from humanity along with their supporters. #JusticeForHoney

Malone Teen Slaying Exposes Black Leadership: Georgia Murder Case Lacks Opportunity To Promote Racial Divide & Monetary Gain

The discussion is now centered on how best to bring the tragic killing of Vanessa “Honey” Malone to the National Media spotlight. The killing of the popular Georgia teen is undoubtedly a horrific crime, and the fact that her peers were able to bring her story onto Social Media’s worldwide center stage is nothing short of incredible. Blogs from various social forums are now talking about how cowardly young black men shot the 100 pound 18-year-old in the back while suspiciously others who were there strangely survived. The events of that night when this beautiful young girl lost her life in a hail of gunfire is all too familiar. Nobody knows anything, no one saw anything, and no one is talking. Like the normal script, cops labeled the case drug related and their efforts finding the teen’s killers have been apathetic at best. Many followers are now writing letters, sending emails, and making phone calls to prominent black leaders, radio shows, and T.V. talk shows in a desperate attempt to bring broader media exposure to this senseless killing of a young female. Although the JustForHoney case is continuing to gain attention from all over the world, it’s simply disturbing that none of the so called prominent black figures who advocate social change in this country have chimed in on the teen’s tragic story. My personal calls to the Reverend Al Sharpton’s National Action Network headquarters were met with constant voice recordings advising that the voice mail box was too full to retain further messages. Sharpton who came into national prominence surrounding the Tawana Brawley case, is more well known for his recent public advocacy in the Travon Martin killing. I also sent a communication to the so called Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan’s Center Mosque in Chicago. I actually did speak with the secretary of an Aid to the Minister. During that dialogue the sister who answered the phone was diligent and asking questions while obtaining information regarding the case and the R.I.P. Honey Facebook page. I also gave a telephone number for Mrs. Flora King Malone to the sister and asked that someone from the Nation of Islam at the very least telephone the grieving mother to offer support as well as spiritual guidance during the Malone family’s darkest hour. Flora Malone tells TPC that no one has even bothered to even put a call out to her. Farrakhan has recently been speaking in black communities where black on black violence is perpetuating. Farrakhan has visited the streets of Chicago, Newark New Jersey, and Harlem New York on a campaign that he alleges is an effort to save black lives. However, Farrakhan’s public speaking during many of these events appear to be nothing more than his normal publicity seeking, and are not void of his usual undertones of race hate and racial divide. Farrakhan is more widely known for his Vintage Race Hate toward white people, and my communication to him was to call him out about his own words. Farrakhan has been advocating that black people should learn to love themselves, his message continues to fall upon death ears from many within the black community who see him for what he really is ( a cowardice racist who hides behind an army of assuming black men eager to make their capacity to hate known to the world). The 127,000 followers of the Malone murder case make up a rainbow of God’s people deriving from various ethnic groups across the planet, and many of whom are the world’s young people. What a pristine opportunity for black leaders all across this country to capture the ears of the world’s youth and advocate love, hope, condone violence of any kind, and more particularly violence against women. The fact that none of them were able to become informed about such a horrible crime without solicitation from the public, is indicative of exactly how out of touch black leaders are with the masses of people whom they profess to represent. However, looking at my perspective from your own personal objectivity, you will find that there is a common denominator that exist in cases like the Malone teen slaying that prohibits action of any kind from these so-called and professed leaders of the black community. Every time any of these public figures are in front of the media there is always some issue related to race, issues pertaining to an injustice toward people of color, and opportunities to spark outrage within an assuming black community where donations, and other financial support is eventually gained. Why are these leaders only present during race related social issues in our country? When was the last time Al Sharpton stood in front of a microphone to denounce black on black violence, violence within the American youth, and violence against women? When was the last time you saw Farrakhan speaking in protest of the very viciousness of violence that blacks impose upon black communities, and did so without pointing figures at the white community alleging that they are directly responsible for black on black violence? Never! The dark-heart and uncompassionate black men who killed Vanessa Malone are in fact savages, and represent a vicious minority within our community that we must collectively rid ourselves of. How dare you advocate injustice toward the masses of black people, but fail to display an equal disdain for extremely violent culture inflicted upon our communities at the hands of many of our very own people. There are countless of murders all over America committed by black youth and none of these so-called leaders have said nothing about this. This is hypocrisy at it’s best. Where are you now when the masses of the people look to you for your guidance, and leadership? In fact where are the ministers who collect tithe from God’s people on Sunday? Where are the black entertainers and musicians whose very prosperity has derived from the masses? Where are all of you now when such a crime has cast down disparity, grief, and suffering upon a people crying out for justice? In fact, where is the NAACP? Where is the Urban League? Where is Minister T.D. Jakes? Where are all of the so-called prominent leaders of the black community? Most importantly, where is President Barack Obama in the wake of the senseless killing of a young female?Flora Malone doesn’t have tens of thousands of dollars to buy your leadership, and her daughters murder is nothing more than another another case file number for the local police investigating her killing. So, if this child’s life is of no significance to those of great influence and political power, then at the very least come forward and stand beside these children whose lives are now shattered because of the tragic ending of one of their peers. The lack of involvement by black leaders in this country is simply pure hypocrisy, and sends a hell of a message to the world’s youth who have mobilized for non-violence and justice. I will continue to support our youth and speak for the masses who lack the capacity to accurately express their plight, while our black leaders selectively chose their involvement in social issues that profit their advocacy.

TPC Solicits Help From Nation Of Islam: Guidance Sought From Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan In Georgia Youth Slaying

Every Muslim male from adolescence to adulthood are taught that the life of a woman child is the very essence of humanity’s existence and her creed must be protected. You do not see volumes of violence toward muslim women in our country, because there is a very distinct consequence for perpetrators who dare be so bold to inflict violence of any kind upon our sisters. Although many African-American people in our nation transcend from various religious faiths, the message must be clear that violence upon black women can not and will not be tolerated regardless of their religious persuasion. The tragic murder case of Vanessa “Honey” Malone in Stone Mountain, Georgia is perhaps one of the most horrific crimes against a black woman at the hands of black men in recent memory. The killing of a 100 pound, size 1 18-year-old teenage female who was shot in the back by black men, can only be described as pure cowardice, and should rattle the consciousness down to the very core of every black man in America. The Muslim male child is also taught that its innate duty to lead his family, but sadly in this case our brothers have fallen short. Keah Clayton who is the friend of the slain Malone youth has stepped to the plate and single-handedly launched a massive effort to find the killers, while our brothers have stood by silently. Since local men in the Stone Mountain community have failed in this effort, I can only conclude that their deficiencies are directly related to ignorance. I have reached out to the Nation of Islam and the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan in an effort to obtain some spiritual guidance and direction in the wake of this tragic story. Our young people must learn that black on black crime and violence is nothing more than a planned script by enemies of black people who seek our complete self-destruction. Therefore, my communication to the Nation is as Follows:

The Nation of Islam
The National Center Mosque Maryam
7351 South Stony Island
Chicago, Illinois 60649

Beloved, As Salaam Alaikum and I pray the Blessings of Allah are upon you with his mercy. I am Muslim and would like to bring to your attention a tragic story of black on black violence that has taken the life of one of our beloved sisters. The case is in Stone Mountain, Georgia. On October 23, 2012 a gang of armed men identified as African-American broke into an apartment, tied up the residents, and proceeded to search through the home. Unfortunately, 18-year-old Vanessa Marie Malone entered the apartment while this home invasion was in progress. Startled by the events as she arrived, the young sister attempted to flee and was caught by these men, brought back inside, placed in a closet, and was shot twice in the back. The Malone youth only weighed 100 pounds, and was an incredibly beautiful young sister. The events of this tragic night that was offered by the survivors are sketchy at best, and the efforts of an inept police department have been apathetic in solving this horrific crime. However, one of the Malone youth’s friends Keah Clayton has successfully launched a massive effort to find the teen’s killers. Through her work on the R.I.P. Honey Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/JusticeForHoney). Followers from all over the world have chimed in with support for the Malone family. Over 127,000 followers have since offered support. A Crime Stoppers Reward Fund has also been established to help police find the murderers of this beautiful young sister. The most positive aspect of this horrific case is there are thousands of black youth following this case who are now dissociating themselves from the “stop snitching” street code of silence, and the Justice For Honey Movement is now born. I have followed the Minister Louis Farrakhan since my youth, as recent as the Nations efforts to end black on black violence in the streets of Chicago. The teachings of the Honorable Elijah Muhammad teaches us that we must do for self and not depend of others. I am proud of these youth for the stand that they have taken against black on black violence, and this is a great moment in our time to send a strong message to youth regarding self-destruction of our own people. I beg you to help them. Could you have a representative of the Nation, if not the Minister himself to contact the Malone family with encouragement and support during this dark moment of their family. There articles about this sad case on my Blog (http://www.thepeopleschampiuon.me), and Mrs. Flora King Malone may be contacted at (404)661-0448. I may also be contacted at (203)374-4081. Your assistance and support would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

As Salaam Alaikum
Daawood Ibn Abu Aadam
(David B. Adams)

The local police in Stone Mountain are inept. Soliciting help from National News Broadcast have failed so far, and we can no longer stand by idle expecting others to do for our community that we refuse to do for ourselves. this is a tragic crime committed at the hands of some of our own sick brothers. More importantly, black on black youth violence has now reached biblical proportions and we must find leaders among us who are best qualified to educate us all on this sickening epidemic of violence that plague African-American people across this country. I continue to pray for peace.

Who Killed “Honey”: A Grueling But Necessary Process Must Run It’s Course Until Her Killers Are Captured

The R.I.P. Honey Facebook Page has drown interest from every corner of our nation from  Southern California, Northern Connecticut,  Texas, Michigan, our southern states, and from all across America. It seems that the pretty popular teen from Stone Mountain, Georgia tragic murder case has began to develop into a national topic on Social Media. Followers are chiming in with condolences and other heartfelt expressions for the slain youth’s  grieving family as the public  continues to look for answers related to who killed the teen.  The story offered by two of the survivors  present the night armed gunman allegedly broke into to  India Smith and Travares Benford’s Georgia apartment  continues to puzzle many, in a brazen armed robbery that resulted in the Malone teen having been the only person murdered.  Since that fateful night Benford has been taken into police custody on charges related to a violation of the State of Georgia’s Controlled Substance Statue, and for Tampering With Evidence. While he sits in a Dekalb County jail cell, many living  near the apartment complex where the teen was killed say that Smith continues with business as usual like the teen was never killed at her home.  Smith reportedly also hasn’t even spoken to the teen’s mom to simply offer condolences regarding the tragic ending of her baby girl.  For most who are closely following this case, Benford and Smith are the primary suspects in the  court of public opinion, and are perceived to know exactly how the teen’s lifeless body ended up on the floor of their apartment riddled with bullets.  Benford & Smith appear to be much older than the Malone youth and many ask what was the connection or affiliation between them. Smith is a model with various images displayed on the Model Mayhem Agency, and may have been attempting to mentor the pretty Malone teen who was also aspiring to become a model. Malone’s friends say that Smith’s association with the teen is the sole reason she was at the apartment, and it’s just disturbing that the youth came to such a tragic ending while visiting her apartment. The quest for justice for Malone has garnered support from everywhere, but the publicity of the teen’s killing isn’t without controversy. A Rap Video published in 2009 has surfaced on Youtube with the Rappers referencing a female named “Honey”. The music video is very creepy with some of the soundtrack talking about killing the “Honey” female. Gunshots are heard after a female is overheard screaming as part of the sound effects, and the main acoustical theme is similar to music you might hear in a Bride of Chuckie horror movie. The video is listed under the name TC Missez – Itz Whateva. It’s unclear who associated the video with the Malone youth, but it’s a horrific song with an extremely Erie resemblance to how Benford & Smith describe Malone’s last moments before the teen was killed.. Smith and Benford both allege that Malone was overheard screaming as gunshots rang out and found the youth murdered after freeing themselves from being tied up. Keah Clayton who founded the R.I.P. Honey Facebook Page posted on the site to dispel rumors that the song was related to the Malone killing, but encourage those who felt the song had merit to contact local investigators covering the Malone murder case. There are others who say that the song was about a former member of the female rap group, and was a publicity stunt to gain attention for their music. However, the sound effects with gunshots and screams while talking about a female named “Honey” is simply too coincidental for many people who have heard the recording, considering how the teen was allegedly killed. Followers say that the Malone youth Social Media pages are very telling, that the teen was aware that something was about to go down. Malone posted “I’m getting out of Stone Mountain”, and allegedly had guns in some of the images on her page stating, “I’m not hiding”. The video itself is violent and feeds a blood thirsty rap culture which permeates much of our younger generation, and it’s simply disgusting that individuals would bring the song to light on the Facebook Page created to find the teen’s killers. It almost appears that someone was after one last slight toward Malone’s family to taunt them about the pretty teen’s murder. Also, a volume of followers have made diligent efforts to tarnish the JusticeForHoney Movement by posting obscenities, profanity, and other innuendo causing disruption on the R.I.P. Honey FB site. There continues to be petty bickering between many followers on how best to get information out to the public about the murder case. Pictures of Benford and Smith have emerged on the site, and some say it’s not right to publicly display the images because the pair could fall to street justice without actually having been involved in the teen’s killing. Some even cite that defamation lawsuits could possibly follow if the pair are proven not to have been involved. It seems that too many people are quick to protect the very people who were there the night Malone was killed, and are in fact the same people who have failed to give cops the information they need to capture the teen’s killers. Much of this discussion is centered around the mystery “Mercy” character who was also an alleged victim of the armed robbery but suspiciously left the scene before the cops arrived that night. It’s unclear whether “Mercy” is a male or female, but that person is clearly the most important element of this case, and that is of course if you believe that such a person even exist. Whether it’s a rap song or people saying that they know what went down that night, all of these factors are important to investigators to sort out the facts and find out who committed this horrible crime, and it should not matter whose feelings are hurt along the way. A little girl died senselessly to violence and everyone of us should be hunting well into the dark of night, and anywhere they may hide until #JusticeForHoney is obtained. This tragic story is rightfully in the spotlight because her life mattered just like all of the youth whose lives are lost tragically and die so young.

The Vanessa “Honey” Malone Movement: Hood Rats Emerge On FB Page Dedicated To Justice In Slain Teen’s Killing

Now that nearly 127,000 people are following the tragic story of pretty little Vanessa Marie Malone, you would think that such an out pour of concern would bring a community together while grieving from senseless violence that resulted in the tragic ending of one of their young people. For the most part, people within the public in Stone Mountain, Georgia and across the globe have rallied around the Malone family, and “Honey’s” friend Keah Clayton to get to the bottom of what happened that fateful night. Obviously someone knows what happened to this teen and either refuse or are completely afraid to get involved. However, others apparently know what happen and have chosen to visit the teen’s #JusticeForHoney Facebook page to gather information, cause disruption, and spew even more unsolicited hate toward Keah Clayton and others who are leading the organized effort to spread awareness about the Malone youth killing. Only God knows where such gutless and evil disdain comes from that cause some people to find it necessary to conduct themselves in such an uncivilized fashion. It’s this same hate , viciousness, and godlessness that took young Honey away from us, and those who have visited the site with juvenile and catty dramatic foolishness are more than likely closely associated with the cowardice bastards that killed Flora King Malone’s baby girl. Many followers have attempted to rebuff these people and request that they show respect at the very minimal to the teen’s grieving family. Unfortunately many of these same agitators have failed to honor these request for civility on the #JusticeForHoney FB Page. I am very aware that many of the followers of this case are in fact young people from all over the world, but the lack of maturity can’t be an excuse for their conduct, and civility should not only be second nature, but absolutely imperative considering the fact that a little girl died. I know that there are many who hate righteousness, for the word of God says “Thy shall hear me not” and the “hell shall be thy abide for all eternity”. So lets not kid ourselves of exactly who we are dealing with. We are dealing with people who have derived from the dregs of humanity and their actions are nothing more than the ignorance which their degenerated lives promotes. I wish that I could tell you that this generation is well vested  with knowledge about the history of African Peoples who were brought to these shores as slaves. I wish that I could say that our young people knew the stories of the struggles and oppressive conditions that their ancestors endured. I wish that I could say that black children all over American were grateful for the blood shed sacrificed so that they could be free. I wish that I could say that the lives of young black children were of value to at least their very own people. I wish that I could tell you that violence and genocide among black people as a whole no longer existed, but sadly I can not say these things. When our society and our community has diminished to the reality that young women (the very source from which life emerges) lack the basic compassion for the lives of other women, we have reached a spiritual demise and your seed shall not prosper. This is why black children are dying on every continent upon the earth. The inability to see pass trivial indifferences and other petty discourse. Your children die because of disobedience to God (not to slight Mother Malone in anyway) and you can’t even co-exist to met out justice for another female child. You come to places of admiration, righteousness, and all along while mothers weep for their seed. To you a certain death will and must come. Not all of us come from common trash and the despicable filth that consume your very being. It must be said that not all black people live as a hood rat and dwell in the gutters of our society. We pray for your immediate expulsion from life as we know it, and that God discloses you from your cowardice posture where you hide. We can no longer live in fear, and especially in fear of our own people. Keah Clayton and those who follow her in this quest for justice must be commended for finally saying that enough is enough. You attack her because she has enough courage to stand up for righteousness, you attack her and blame her because the page from time to time has digressed to negativity, when you and others are the main source from which the negativity has come. You say your going to tell others not to help because Keah made you mad on a Facebook Page? Your not fooling anyone because your intent is clearly obvious and trifling. You should literally be ashamed of yourself for even uttering such words while this child’s mother, loved ones, and friends grieve everyday for their lost.  The fact that you even bare the audacity to spew such venomous rhetoric on a site dedicated to solving a murder speaks volumes of the contents of your spirit, and demonstrates that your purpose for even visiting the sight was satanic all along. Your efforts are futile, for the steps have already been ordered, and you and your associates will fall in due course. Our young people must learn to persevere in the face of hatred,  the unrighteousness of others, and during turbulent times such as this. March young people, march on, and don’t ever stop. It’s your generation that’s dying. It’s your mothers who are crying, and it’s your future at stake. For those responsible for taking this precious child from us, your days are numbered, and justice will be served. Let the hood rats dwell where God has ordained feces as their diet. If our children can’t live in a world free from violence, hatred, and fear, then this world should not exist. March young people, march!

$1 For The Love Of Honey: Mom Of Slain Teen Puts Up Her Last $1000, And Ask Public To Donate Reward To Catch Her Killer(s)

No new information has surfaced about who killed a pretty & popular Stone Mountain, Georgia teen just a couple of weeks ago. The teen’s grieving family and friends have launched a massive campaign over the internet to spread word about Vanessa “Honey” Malone’s tragic story. Although the youth’s family and friends have sparked awareness, solicited #JusticeForHoney T-shirts, and have planned demonstrations to hand out flyers detailing her murder, there is a growing concern that these efforts may not be sufficient to penetrate a street code of silence. The teen’s mom Flora King Malone, has publicly stated that “a thousand dollars is all I have, and someone can have it if they tell what they know about who killed my baby”. The mother’s comments launched another crusade to solicit money in the hopes of shaking the branches within a community that has been tight lipped about who may have been responsible for Malone’s murder, and hopefully the money would be an incentive to get people to start talking. A Crime Stoppers Reward Fund has been set up by the Malone family in the slain teen’s honor. Some say that even if only the 125,000 people who has been following the story simply donated $1, it would be sufficient to get people to start talking about what they know. The smallest details may aid the police in their investigation. The mystery person named “Mercy” is a good place to start. Police who arrived at the scene of the Malone shooting say that young girls friends told them another victim of the armed robbery had fled the scene before the cops got there. Assuming that the person knew Malone, it’s very odd that they would leave before talking to the police. Many following this story say that the “Mercy” character is the most suspicious element of the entire case, and wonder if cops have even been able to locate the person. Where is “Mercy”? Hopefully a reward will get people to start telling police what they know about his whereabouts, and leading to the arrest of the perpetrators responsible for killing Malone. They is a massive movement within the Stone Mountain Community as people simply want the scumbag(s) who killed this teen cowardly and senselessly. An organized effort to hand out flyers spreading the word about the Malone murder case is planned for tomorrow Saturday November 10. Organizers will meet volunteers at the STONECREST MALL (2929 TurnerHill Road Lithonia, GA.) at 12 p.m. All parties interested in volunteering are encourage to participate. Meanwhile, the Malone family request followers to support these youth by donating money toward the Crime Stoppers Reward. Donations can be made online here: #JusticeForHoney Crime Stoppers Reward Fund. Also CBS has recently broadcast a piece about the Malone Teen’s murder. Up until Fox has been the only network to cover her story. People are continuing to talk about this tragic case, and now with a Crime Stoppers reward set up to aid in finding the teen’s killer(s) it may not be long before the Malone family and friends can began to heal with some degree of closure in her case. The public’s interest continues to grow, and the youth in Stone Mountain are continuing to rally around the Malone family in a search for justice for one of their peers who died so young and was murdered senselessly. Please donate to help find the killer(s) of Vanessa “Honey” Malone, gone from this world now, but will live in the hearts of many forever. #JusticeForHoney!

Still Waiting On Justice: The Mom Of Late Phylicia Barnes Emerges Seeking Clarity In Her Slain Daughter’s Killing

Months have now passed since the public learned that police authorities had made an arrest in the murder case of Pretty Phylicia Barnes, an honors student from Monroe, N.C. Baltimore City Police allege that Michael Johnson asphyxiated the book smart teen in her half-sibling’s Northwest Baltimore apartment back in December of 2010 while the youth was visiting Baltimore over the Christmas Holiday. Johnson’s trial has since been postponed until January 2013. The public hasn’t heard from the late teen’s mom Janice Mustafa either, for months. The once vocal and tough mom from Chicago, has been silent regarding her child’s tragic story. It seems that the streets have fallen silent also. No one is talking about Phylicia’s story, but Michael Johnson’s up coming trial is almost certain to renew the public’s interest in the case. There were many perceptions shared regarding what may have happened to Phylicia, as people literally played cyber-detective trying to met out details regarding how such a promising teenager had come to such a tragic ending. Many of the facts shared by those who were close to the Barnes Teen in Baltimore, have come under scrutiny. Janice Mustafa has always had issue with Phylicia’s half-Sibling Deena Barnes’ story about what actually occurred at her apartment where the child was staying, and how  her visit resulted in her senseless murder. Mrs. Mustafa has even requested that the Baltimore Barnes relatives of her late daughter only be referred to as half-siblings in any future TPC Blog articles pertaining to her daughter. The request comes on the heels of Mrs. Mustafa expressing that “a real sister would not have put her naive baby sister in harms way”. Janice’s comments refers to a discussion she had with Deena Barnes upon her arrival to Baltimore after Phylicia went missing. In that conversation, Janice says that Deena Barnes admitted allowing 16-year-old Phylicia Barnes to drink alcohol (vodka), and smoke marijuana. In an earlier TPC article Janice said she had a lengthy discussion with Deena regarding her expectations of the kind of supervision she expects Deena to perform while Phylicia was in her care away from her rural southern hometown of Monroe, and long before she permitted Phylicia to travel to Baltimore. Janice also expressed disdain for Deena because she believes Deena allowed her daughter to engage in promiscuous activities for a “ball of laughs”. Janice has always described Deena Barnes as a “Hood Rat” and others as  “wanna be thugs” which includes a  circle of friends that hung out at her party atmosphere apartment getting high, and drinking while smoking pot. Janice also told the world on National Television News Broadcast that, “My daughter was a flower” and highlighting how the crowd that Deena Barnes exposed young Phylicia to was a distinct contrast to the social culture the youth had become accustomed to at home. Additionally, I believe that Janice is privileged with exclusive details outlined in the tens of thousands of discovery documents that Maryland State Prosecutors handed over to Michael Johnson’s Defense Team. It’s in her words, her comments, in every thing that she has said about the Barnes females in Baltimore, along with everyone that were hanging out at Deena Barnes apartment. However, clearly Janice Mustafa is far too intelligent to divulge such pertinent information regarding her daughters murder, if for no other reason other than not to jeopardize all of the work authorities have done so far to get justice for her child. Moreover, Janice made it clear that she wanted to correct TPC regarding an article I recently published about violence toward young females of color. In that article I mentioned volunteers involved in search efforts to locate Phylicia in the months that the child had been missing. I mentioned the Maryland based Guardian Angels as having participated in those search efforts. Janice set the record straight, advising TPC that upon her arrival in Baltimore after she learned her daughter was missing, that one Guardian Angel assisted her family the entire time they were in Baltimore, and the GA she described was a white female who had in fact contacted other Guardian Angels, but no one showed up to participate in the search for her daughter. Janice also stated, “months later is when Strider came on the scene and tried to take credit for something he didn’t do”. Janice expressed concern that organizations are “trying to get a little bit of the spot light pertaining to my daughter’s tragic murder”. I apologize to Janice and the entire Mustafa family for the inaccurate information published in that article. It has always been common knowledge that the Maryland Guardian Angels played an active role from the start in the efforts to locate young Phylicia, but obviously that information was incorrect. Mean while the public won’t have any confusion at all regarding the murder of Phylicia Barnes, as her alleged killer heads to trial in just over 2 months at a Baltimore Circuit Court on a Murder Rap for taking a beautiful, talented, and intelligent child from our midst. Hopefully, Phylicia’s mom and a concerned public won’t need anymore clarity after that. We are still waiting on justice for Simone, with her memory encrusted in the depths of our hearts forever. Justice for Phylicia Barnes.

Three Teen Girls, All Murdered, And No Justice: The Lack Of Media Exposure For A Growing Epidemic Of Violence Toward Black Female Youth In Inner City America

From many communities in our nation from places such as New York, Baltimore, and Stone Mountain the tragic stories of young girls of color falling to violent street crime paints a horrific trend. The scenes are all too familiar, with Coroners carrying away body bags of young black girls who were senselessly murdered at the hands of heartless killers. I’ve covered many of their stories right here on my Blog, but three of the young girls cases (Vanessa Marie Malone, Phylicia Simone Barnes, and Chanel Petro-Nixon) in particular continue to haunt me because their killers have never been brought to justice. Though their cases occurred in separate towns, there are characteristics of these kids which cannot be ignored. All were described by family and friends who knew them as loving, cheerful, popular among their peers, and none of them had ever had any trouble with the law. Considering their cases from a broader perspective it seems that the murders were all isolated incidences within their respective communities. These murders send an alarming pattern which depicts a scary reality that woman are no longer immune from the violence that continue to plague our streets in this country. Some women advocacy groups have raise concern that women of color who fall to violent crime lack exposure from Main Stream Media, and that police investigate their cases differently in comparison to their white counter parts similarly situated in violent crime. The case of Natalie Holloway, who was the Alabama teen who went missing while on a school class trip in Bermuda, who has never been found is a murder mystery that drew a broad international Media Blitz. In murder cases involving black females their cases rarely if ever reach the heights of even just National News Coverage, which leaves many of their families grief-stricken, and many of their cases having never been solved by police agencies charge with investigating their murders. Recently in Stone Mountain, Georgia the murder of a beautiful and popular 18-year-old girl name Vanessa Honey” Malone was slain in a hail of gunfire as she walked in on an alleged armed robbery in progress while visiting friends. Malone’s friends who survived the ordeal gave a suspicious account of the events which led to the youth’s murder to police. Her story has gained momentum in Social Media, but only local News Media has covered the tragic case so far. Little detail has surfaced about what actually went on the night Malone was killed, but it seems that authorities are treating her case as a routine drug-related slaying. Police say they are looking for a group on 3 to 6 African-American males as suspects in her case, and another person that Malone’s friends identified as “Mercy” as a person of interest in the case. Youth within the Stone Mountain community have taken unprecedented measures by organizing demonstrations, handing out flyers detailing her case, and soliciting T-shirts in a quest for justice in the teen’s killing. In Atlanta, the parents of the late Monroe, North Carolina honors student Phylicia Barnes are still waiting on justice in another senseless and tragic murder case that led to the very pretty teen’s body being discovered nude in a Northern Maryland river. The Barnes teen had gone to Baltimore, Maryland to visit with half-siblings over the 2010 Christmas Holiday. Barnes murder case did draw some National media attention after her murder was aired on Nancy Grace, but Baltimore City police advocated for news coverage in the Barnes case while describing her murder “as Baltimore’s Natalie Holloway”. The Barnes case resulted in searches by volunteers from the public, the Maryland based Guardian Angels, and various law enforcement agencies. Strangely, two additional bodies were discovered as a result of the searches conducted for the Barnes youth before she was discovered nude floating in a river. Barnes’s murder just like Malone’s initially began with sketchy details. Barnes (16) was reportedly left alone with males on the day that she disappeared, drawing criticism from the public best described by one followers’s remarks ” a pretty teenage girl left alone with males unrelated to her is not good, not good at all”, and has become a grueling, painstaking, and enduring process that has spanned nearly two years. During the Barnes murder investigation F.B.I. authorities obtained search warrants for social media accounts of Barnes, her sister Deena Barnes, Deena Barne’s boyfriend Michael Johnson, and other males known to have frequented the apartment where the teen was staying while visiting Baltimore. It has since since been reported that the federal warrants were obtained related to nude images of the Barnes youth streaking nude in and outside of Deena Barne’s Northwest Baltimore apartment with Michael Johnson and other males. The shocking facts revealed in the images discovered on Johnson’s cellphone drew a response from the Barnes teen’ mother Janice Mustafa, who had reported in a People’s Champion interview that a child who was friend s with Barnes had told her Phylicia admitted having been allowed to drink alcohol (vodka), and smoke marijuana during several visits to Baltimore. Mustafa told TPC that her daughter was a very modest person who felt uncomfortable undress even in front of her. Mustafa said, “If my daughter is in any of the pictures she must have been completely out of it on something”. The circumstances related to the Barnes murder has resulted in an arrest of Michael Johnson, but many observers speculate that the State’s case against Johnson is highly circumstantial and a conviction is not guaranteed. The State alleges that Johnson asphyxiated the Barnes youth before carrying her body out of Deena Barnes apartment in a 40 gallon container. Police say a witness observed Johnson struggling to carry a large contain in the hallway of the building, moving step by step and sweating profusely. The suspected container has never been found and the state hasn’t publicly established a motive for the youths killing. Police have reported that Johnson (28 at the time) exchanged over 500 text messages with the Barnes teen from June to September of 2010. The Barnes teen had also told an older sibling that Johnson made her feel uncomfortable. The Barnes case was postponed until January while Johnson remains in jail. The state overwhelmed Johnson’s legal team with over 10’s of thousands of discovery documents detailing their case against Johnson. Mean while, The Mustafa family have had to simply wait on justice while the tragic murder of their daughter runs it’s course through the Maryland Judicial process. The Barnes case is the only of the three murders highlighted in this article with potential of having real justice obtained in the senseless murder of a promising teen girl, but as previously mentioned it’s not etched in stone that a conviction will be obtained. However, even with the bizarre sequence of events which led to an arrest in the Barnes murder, National Media Coverage was absent. Lastly, the murder of Chanel Petro-Nixon who was a straight A student has gone unsolved for over 6 years. The pretty honors teen who was known to be an advent church goer, and often spent time in the library went missing on Father’s Day back in June of 2006. The Nixon youth left her home that day to go fill out a job application at a local Applebees, and was missing for four days. A local sanitation crew discovered a unusually heavy load of garbage on a Brooklyn, New York street corner and summoned police. Police discovered the body of a teen girl inside the garbage bag that was later identified as the pretty Petro-Nixon teen. Nancy Grace also covered the Petro-Nixon murder, but her case nor the Barnes case drew an extended media blitz like the Holloway murder did which lasted for years. Cops say leads were minimal in the Nixon killing with almost no credible information from the public. Cops had hoped that Nixons pink & white Retro Air Jordan Nike sneakers and her missing cellphone would aid in solving the youth’s murder. Six years later, and after assistance from the Reverend Al Sharpton, and several America’s Most Wanted broadcast spearheaded by John Lieberman, the Petro-Nixon murder remains unsolved. Years have now gone by without any media coverage, and the case appears to have been dumped into the laps of the teens family to continue the quest for justice in her murder. In all three of these  murder cases the youths were slain as if their lives meant nothing. There should be a growing concern for the entire African-American community that our female children are at a greater risk to violence than they have ever been, and signifying that  black girls could be a victim at any time no matter where they are within the community. The lack of media coverage coupled with seemingly weak investigations by police in many of these murders, we must adopt a proactive stance as a standard to safeguard the lives of our precious daughters. More accountability must be implemented establishing constant communication of their whereabouts when they are away from home and their families. There is a stigma circulating that the lack of Media is directly related to the African-American communities inability to curtail black on black violence themselves. When our daughters fall senselessly to violence it’s with out question our responsibility to end this trend resulting in the tragic ending of not just black female youth, but females everywhere.

“And A Little Child Shall Lead Them”: The Wisdom Behind The Justice For Vanessa “Honey” Malone Movement

Now that many from within the American Public have their eyes squarely centered on the small Atlanta suburban town of Stone Mountain, Georgia in the wake of the senseless murder of 18-year-old Vanessa Marie Malone, a strong youth movement having mobilized to advocate for justice in her killing, and considering how rapid the teen’s case has spread worldwide, the murder case now has people wondering what is so different in Stone Mountain. Violent crimes occur every day in this country without the massive support we see in Malone’s case from concerned citizens who are eager, and unafraid to speak out against such violence. The standard has always been universal within American Culture that no one would dare cooperate or tell what they know, consistent and in concert with a strict street code of silence. Fortunately that’s not how some of the late teen’s peers see it. One of Malone’s best friends has launched a massive effort to spread the word about Malone’s senseless and tragic murder mystery. That’s an extremely bold posture for a young woman living in the “Stop Snitching” generation. Instead of the typical ridicule and persecution which normally follows such an uncharacteristic individual response related to violent crime, Keah Clayton has effortlessly & single-handily ushered Malone’s murder case onto a Word Stage via Social Media. Her efforts have also spurred multiple groups who are in fact mobilizing within the Stone Mountain Community and surrounding areas, with scheduled dates to hand out flyers detailing the murder case. Other groups have began soliciting #JusticeForHoney T-shirts from various online manufacturing sources. The wave on interest in the teen’s case isn’t just isolated in the Stone Mountain community, but rather from distant places as far as California, Arizona, and Canada respectively. With over 120,000 likes to the slain teen’s R.I.P. Honey Facebook page which was set up in her honor, growing daily, it’s beyond reasoning that National Media hasn’t picked up the Vanessa “Honey” Malone murder case. The teen’s case has made it’s rounds on various crime advocacy forums such as here on The People’s Champion Blog, Lipstick Alley, Crime Slueths, and others. News of the case possibly being aired on the Nationally Syndicated “The Breakfast Club” morning talk show in New York City, and possible involvement by Actor Will Smith has been circulating. Needless to say, the grassroots effort by Keah Clayton has sparked an unprecedented Movement against violent crime for her slain friend, and just may set a new standard in community action when young people’s lives are stricken down in senseless street violence. Clayton’s actions depict a distinct sense of bravery, loyalty, perseverance in the face of adversity, and has afforded her praise from followers of the case whom have defined her actions as true love and friendship toward the slain Malone youth. However, societies observation of this case must not rest solely on Clayton’s actions. The entire story must be promoted and utilized as a textbook case analysis to aid in curing the plague of violent street culture impacting communities throughout the country & the world alike. Perhaps this “Movement” by American youth would be best dubbed as a “Movement” against violent culture. The message to our youth must be described as “what will happen when one person says, enough” and stands up for righteousness. In the Bible the word of God as depicted in the Book of Isiah: Verse 6 clearly says, “and a child shall lead”. This scripture was echoed in a comment on the R.I.P. Honey Facebook page by a suspected older relative of Clayton’s. The post reads, “And a child shall lead them, Honey can lead her peers out of the darkness of silence that has allowed for so many of our babies lives to be stolen under a “false sense of street honor” that has done nothing but given COWARDS a place to hide. The only winners in this silence is the criminals.” In many respects our youth are in fact leading the way to usher in a new era of social change and justice. It seems sadly though, that the child leading the way in this instance is no longer with us, but we thank God for a friend in Keah Clayton.

The Vanessa “Honey” Malone Movement: Friends Account Just Doesn’t Add Up In Pretty Georgia Teen Slaying

They say on October 23 around 10:00 p.m. a gang of African-American men dressed in all black broke through the door of their Stone Mountain. Georgia apartment like a scene straight of the wild west, took them hostage, tied them up, and began searching through their home. Then suddenly pretty little Vanessa Malone arrived while this brazen made for T.V. kind of home invasion was in progress. The woman living there, India Smith (age unknown) says she heard the Malone teen enter the apartment through the back. Malone apparently startled by the activities going on, screamed and attempted to flee the apartment. Both smith and her boyfriend Travares Benford said several gun shots followed, and heard Malone pleading for her life as the gun & shotgun toting thugs brought the petite teen back inside of the apartment. Gripped with fear Smith and Benford say they remained tied up while lying inside the tub in the bathroom for an additional 15-20 minutes, beforing Benford untied himself and Smith, and called for help. When cops arrived, they observed both Smith and Benford outside the apartment. The couple told police their friend had been shot, leading them to an unconscious Malone lying on the floor in the rear of the apartment suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Malone was declared dead at the scene. According to Smith & Benford the robbers only took Benford’s wallet, and Smith’s cellphone. It’s simply disgusting that a young woman lost her left in a home invasion robbery that only scored a wallet and cellphone for these cowardice perks, That’s of course if you even believe Smith and Benford’s account of what actually went down that night. By all accounts offered by those who knew and loved Malone, who was affectionately known as “Honey”, she was a social butterfly possessing strong social traits that afforded her the ability to interact with just about anyone from a variety of backgrounds, and that’s why many have difficulty even imagining anyone wanting to harm the teen. It’s unclear the extent of which Malone’s relationship with Smith & Benford was, but many people find their account regarding what happened that night as highly suspicious. I’ll summarize my preliminary thoughts on the case here:

I find it troubling that Smith & Benford failed to react with any measure of desperation at all when they became aware that someone was attempting to force their way inside that apartment. Barring the couple being completely asleep, it seems that the couple didn’t react proactively to flee before the thugs entered their apartment. This is simply a normal reaction once people are introduced to a fearful situation. I mean were they not afraid? The pair don’t offer the rationalization that sleeping hindered their reactions and allowed the thugs to catch them off guard (i.e. they didn’t say they were awaken by the men). Their account simply places them in the bedroom awake. Realizing that their apartment setup is not the traditional apartment building design with only one point of entry/exit, this fact heightens my belief that the pair had no desire to leave the apartment in a hurried fashion out of fear for their personal safety. The rear door of this apartment was an option to get out until they could establish what was going on. The cops say they observed damage to the door of the apartment and the door lock. Unless the building was designed with weak materials, common sense tells me that it took some effort to break through their door, and establishing ample time to dial 911 via their cellphones or simply run out of their. I have trouble with the fact neither of them were fearful enough to flee that place. Did they just stand there like a deer in the path of a car’s headlights while the front door to their home was being broken into? Who just stands there while someone is breaking down the front door to their home? The pair say they were in the bedroom when they heard the door being broken down, later own they tell cops that an alleged 4th victim “Mercy” was also there but left the scene prior to the police’ arrival. Where was he when the door was being broken down? Obviously he didn’t flee the scene while people were breaking in the place either. This is completely unbelievable. They are unable to tell cops exactly how many people were actually involved. I am not shallow to the extent that I am unaware that people panic and are unable to remember certain details when face with stressful situations, but they tell the cops 3 to 6 people. Three to six people? I am sorry, and I’m not trying to be anal here, but that’s troubling that the pair described those involved as such. It almost sounds like one of them said 3 and the other said there were 6 people involved. Either way this is highly suspicious to me. They further said the men ordered them to the ground and tied them up, but there was no mention of what the men did to the mystery “Mercy” character. Where was he? Did they tie him up in another room? In fact the pair never even offers an explanation on this point. The say the men took Benford’s wallet and Smith’s cellphone. You mean to tell me this bold brazen group of thugs toting heavy weaponry only wanted a damn cellphone and a wallet? It’s entirely unbelievable that these men came prepared for war, and appeared to only take these items. Did they take anything else while they were searching through the place? What were they looking for? Smith says that she heard Malone enter through the rear of the apartment. I have a problem comprehending how she would know this if she is tied up in a bathtub in the bathroom. I believe Smith and Benford knew this because that’s the way the teen was instructed to come in. I mean, who leaves the back door to their apartment open for anyone to simply walk in at 10:00 at night? unless Malone had a key to the place. Additionally, I believe that the men were lying in wait for Malone after she had been lured to that apartment by one of the other three people there at the direction of the gang of men. They were there for “Honey”, and there is no doubt in my mind about that. Benford says he waited 15-20 minutes out of fear before he untied himself and Smith, then called for help. When cops arrive the pair are both outside waiting for police. This tells me that they already knew that Malone had expired. Your friend gets shot at your place, you dial 911 and stay at there side comforting them until EMS arrive. The 911 operator could have given them instructions on how to best aid Malone until EMS arrived. Instead, these two people simply leave Malone alone dieing on the floor of their apartment. Moreover, Smith, Benford, and the mystery “Mercy” character all survive the ordeal unharmed. Why did they kill Malone? I’ll even offer the benefit of the doubt that Malone may have also startled the robbers, one of them panicked, and may have shot the teen out of fear that she could identify them. But even if you consider that scenario, it’s disturbing that the thugs didn’t make sure none of the others could also identify them. The entire story offered by this couple is bizarre and entirely unbelievable. I also can’t believe that no one in that apartment complex overheard the door being broken into and not call 911. What about the gun shots? Didn’t anyone hear shots fired? Hell if there were shots, I’m sure some one got up to see what was going on and could have called the cops. There was enough time for someone else to have called the cops while Benford was lying cowardly in that bathtub, and they would have already been there when he untied himself. Smith say she heard the men bring Malone back inside. I mean really? Really? You heard them bring her back inside? If your tied up in a bathtub, you may here movement in adjacent rooms, but I find it difficult that anyone placed in a similar situation could describe hearing this. If Smith’s version of events is in fact accurate, this means that the men took time to go outside, pick her up, and carry her back inside the apartment while exposing their identity to neighbors who could eventually be witnesses placing them at the scene. A bleeding Malone would also cause her blood to make contact with the men, and their DNA on her clothing. Not just that though, why would they even care to bring her back inside, and for what purpose? This would mean that the men also had confidence that there was time to conduct their business and have time to escape. This doesn’t make any sense at all.

After considering these facts, I believe that Malone may have been shoot elsewhere and brought to that apartment for the purpose of determining how best to discard of her body. I don’t believe that Malone entered the apartment through the back as Smith describes. Her account isn’t credible nor does it make sense. Malone more than likely was carried through the rear by someone, and the explanation offered was probably fabricated to account for blood leading from outside into that apartment. I have more as further details about her case are made public.
